ANDROPAUSE

It is now well accepted that serum testosterone (T) levels decline progressively with aging in men. The decline in T levels is a consequence both of aging per se and age-associated illnesses and medications that are used to treat them. From a practical clinical standpoint, it is most appropriate to define “ANDROPAUSE” as an age-related decline in serum T levels in older men to below the normal range in young men that is associated with a clinical syndrome (i.e., symptoms and signs) consistent with androgen deficiency.

SYMPTOMS OF ANDROPAUSE

In middle-aged or older men experiencing age-related decrease in testosterone, low T can cause vague symptoms including low energy, decreased muscle strength, and physical function, reduced sexual function, depressed mood, and decreased cognitive function. Not all men with age-related low testosterone have, or are bothered by symptoms, in addition the level at which symptoms occur varies from man to man. Symptoms of ANDROPAUSE can be PHYSICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL and SEXUAL.

TREATMENT OPTIONS

Testosterone replacement can be easily achieved with either Testosterone Hormone Injections or Testosterone Hormone Pellets.

Testosterone Injections are small painless subcutaneous injections performed by the patient once or twice weekly. Testosterone Pellets are small rice size pellets inserted in the superficial fat layer just under the skin. These are inserted every 5 to 6 months with a minor in office procedure.

Our Male Monthly Membership Program covers the office visits and whichever form of Testosterone Replacement you prefer. Labs are excluded and inexpensive cash pay labs are available in our office.
